Medicare Advantage in Huntersville
Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are offered by private companies approved by Medicare and cover what Original Medicare Part A and Part B cover. Many include Part D drug coverage, and most use provider networks.
Huntersville is in Mecklenburg County, so you choose from the plans offered in Mecklenburg County. Matt looks up plans using your address so you're comparing options you can enroll in.
New to the area?
If you moved to Huntersville from another state or county, your old Medicare Advantage plan may not be offered here, or its network may not include doctors near your new home. A permanent move generally gives you a Special Enrollment Period to choose a plan that works where you live now.
Matt can help you figure out the timing and find doctors in the networks you're considering.
New to Medicare?
Your Initial Enrollment Period is a seven-month window around your 65th birthday month. It's a good idea to start a few months early, gather your doctors and prescriptions, and compare options before the window opens.
When you can enroll or make changes
After your first enrollment, these windows apply:
- Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): a seven-month window that includes the three months before your 65th birthday month, your birthday month and the three months after.
- Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): October 15 to December 7 each year, with changes taking effect January 1.
- Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (MA OEP): January 1 to March 31, if you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan. You can make one change during this period.
- Special Enrollment Periods: certain life events, such as moving or losing other coverage, may let you make changes at other times.
