Medicare Advantage for Mooresville residents
Medicare Advantage (Part C) is a way to get your Medicare coverage through a private plan approved by Medicare. These plans cover the services Original Medicare Part A and Part B cover, many include Part D drug coverage, and most use provider networks. You generally keep paying your Part B premium.
Plans are approved by county. Because Mooresville is in Iredell County, you choose from the plans offered in Iredell County, and that list can be different from what your friends across the lake in Mecklenburg or Lincoln County see.
A local broker you can sit down with
A lot of people would rather go over their options face to face. Matt is based in Mooresville, so he can meet you in person, or set up a phone or video call if that's easier.
Before any conversation about Medicare Advantage plans, Matt will confirm the products you want to discuss (Scope of Appointment). After you enroll, you still have a local person to call when a bill or a network question comes up.
When you can enroll or make changes
Medicare has set windows for joining or changing a Medicare Advantage plan:
- Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): a seven-month window that includes the three months before your 65th birthday month, your birthday month and the three months after.
- Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): October 15 to December 7 each year, with changes taking effect January 1.
- Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (MA OEP): January 1 to March 31, if you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan. You can make one change during this period.
- Special Enrollment Periods: certain life events, such as moving or losing other coverage, may let you make changes at other times.

Matt is an independent broker, not the insurance company. He gathers your doctors, prescriptions and priorities, compares the plans he represents that are offered in Iredell County, and explains the trade-offs so you can decide. He also helps with enrollment and stays your point of contact after you enroll.
